Dubai: The CEO and MD of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, and Ms. Nipa Nirannoot, the Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, spoke about topics of mutual interest and how DEWA could collaborate with Thai energy and water authorities and organizations.
Mr. Al Tayer praised the Thai Consulate’s efforts to strengthen collaboration and share the best practices from around the world in the areas of water, sustainability, and clean and renewable energy.
The scope of strategic cooperation and the contributions of Thai organizations and businesses in the vital sectors of water, sustainability, and clean and renewable energy in Thailand and the UAE were discussed by the two sides.
Mr. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s key projects, initiatives, and programs that support the wise leadership’s vision to establish a sustainable model for energy that supports economic growth. The CEO of DEWA highlighted Dubai’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100 percent of Dubai’s total power capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
Among DEWA’s most notable projects in clean energy is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world.
Ms. Nirannoot emphasized the importance of enhancing trade, investments, and the exchange of experiences and technologies between Thailand and the UAE. The Consul-General highlighted the wide avenues of cooperation, partnership, and exploring investment opportunities between Thai companies and DEWA.
