Abu Dhabi: The Department of Community Development (DCD) – Abu Dhabi has teamed up with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to license social workers employed by private schools in Abu Dhabi.
About important collaborative programs between the social and educational sectors, the partnership seeks to coordinate and integrate duties between the two departments. Additionally, it will organize and specify duties regarding the licensing of social workers employed by private schools and other establishments regulated by the ADEK.
Through the sharing of knowledge and experiences in the field, the changing demands of the job, and new advancements, the agreement also emphasizes collaboration and coordination in regulatory areas about the social and educational sectors.
The collaboration required the establishment of a joint high-level committee of senior management from both sides, whose job it was to monitor the execution of the agreement’s terms. Priorities would be set, task groups would be formed, performance would be monitored, recommendations would be discussed and approved, and efforts would be made to create explicit procedures that would initiate collaboration. Additionally, it will provide quarterly achievement reports to both parties’ top management.
HE Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the DCD, remarked that, “The Department of Community Development is keen to build fruitful and purposeful partnerships that contribute to enhancing the quality of life in society in general, and in this context comes the memorandum of understanding with the Department of Education and Knowledge. Its purpose is to regulate social care professionals in educational institutions and to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two departments.
“This will reflect positively on the practitioners of this profession, and thus provide the best services to those who deserve it. The memorandum also works to enhance cooperation between the two bodies by coordinating work on priority joint programs between the social and educational sectors through exchanging experiences and information as required, and cooperation and coordination in the organizational fields of the social and educational sectors,” Ali Al Dhaheri added.
