Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Customs has received a high-level delegation from US Customs and Border Protection at its headquarters in Masdar City.
The best customs practices used in Abu Dhabi were discussed at the meeting, with a focus on the application of cutting-edge technology and systems in customs operations.
Mr. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, met with Diane J. Sabatino, Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner of CBP’s Office of Field Operations, and her accompanying delegation.
During the discussion, the agenda included Abu Dhabi Customs’ strategic transformation journey, notable achievements, and ongoing projects, particularly those that leverage technology to streamline cargo movement through border crossings and enhance inspection processes.
The visit also included a tour of the Abu Dhabi Customs Training Academy, showcasing specialized training programs for inspectors’ qualification and capacity building. It also emphasized the utilization of advanced technology solutions in training.
The delegation visited the Central Operations Room of Abu Dhabi Customs to learn about the latest implemented systems aimed at connecting all land, air, and sea customs centers with an advanced centralized system.
Additionally, they familiarized themselves with the employment of artificial intelligence in customs operations, which has contributed to improving accuracy, speed, and efficiency, thus saving time and effort at Abu Dhabi Customs.
At the conclusion of the visit, the US delegation commended Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts in leveraging technology to facilitate trade, enhance security, and protect society, as well as adopting advanced techniques to elevate the overall customs system.
