Dubai has announced remote learning and work-from-home arrangements for all private schools and government employees for Tuesday, April 16. This policy aligns with a broader directive affecting public schools across the UAE, which are scheduled to conduct online classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dubai’s Crown Prince communicated the decision following the directive from the Emirates School Education Foundation. He stated, “Due to the expected weather conditions in the country, we have directed that remote work be on Tuesday (16 April) for Dubai government employees and all private schools in the emirate.”
This precautionary step is taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst anticipated weather changes. Additionally, the foundation has confirmed that public schools across the UAE will participate in remote learning for these two days.
Private sector companies in areas most affected by the weather have been advised to implement necessary safety precautions, especially in outdoor work environments where operations cannot be easily halted.
Earlier, authorities in Ras Al Khaimah adopted similar measures by moving to distance learning for government institutions within the emirate. This coordinated effort across multiple emirates underscores the proactive measures being taken to mitigate the impact of the expected adverse weather conditions.
In Oman, about 18 people, including nine students, have died in recent days due to strong winds and rain. Significant damage and losses have also occurred. Rescue operations continue in Oman as the rain persists, though it has lessened.
