Sharjah: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is preparing to participate in the 21st Sharjah Heritage Days, a lively exhibition of varied heritage and culture organized by the Sharjah Heritage Institute.
The festival this year, with the theme “Connect,” is expected to enthrall attendees from February 22 to March 3 in Sharjah’s historic Heart, a neighborhood renowned for its rich cultural heritage.
Embodying the vision of Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who believes that “Museums are made to educate our children and our future generations.” SMA is dedicated to maintaining its spaces as dynamic venues offering innovative ways of learning, disseminating knowledge, and making cultural education accessible and engaging for all age groups.
Throughout the event, SMA will offer complimentary entry to its museums in the Heart of Sharjah, including Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Bait Al Naboodah, and Hisn Khorfakkan. This gesture encourages the public to explore extensive collections and partake in activities that vividly portray the UAE’s identity and rich history.
One of SMA’s most notable contributions is “Museums Express,” a groundbreaking mobile bus museum program. This program, which offers distinctive educational experiences on wheels, allows visitors to discover different collections of the Sharjah Museum while operating on specific dates at the Heart of Sharjah and Dibba Al Hisn.
Apart from providing complimentary entry to the museum, SMA is arranging various workshops. These include creating imitative doors and towers at Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn) and painting customary patterns at Bait Al Naboodah. These programs provide practical experiences based in cultural heritage.
SMA’s shows also explore Emirati art and culture in great detail, showcasing the country’s legacy via fine arts and photography.
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organizes Sharjah Heritage Days every year, which are a lively way to introduce the younger generation to the rich historical traditions that characterize Emirati culture.
