Sharjah: The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) recently commemorated the first anniversary of the “Sharjah Safari” project, the largest safari outside of Africa, which was launched by Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
In just one year, Sharjah Safari achieved a number of successes, advancing the Emirate of Sharjah’s environmental and tourism initiatives and solidifying its position as a premier location for nature and wildlife tourism. This has improved the activity of many industries, including travel, aviation, ecotourism, hospitality, and entertainment. Thousands of local and foreign guests came to Sharjah Safari to attend various local and international conferences and activities.

The leader of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA), Ms. Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, expressed her deep pride in the accomplishments of this trailblazing international tourism and environmental project, which was inspired by the vision and thoughtful leadership of Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi.
Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi personally oversaw the execution of this essential and excellent scientific initiative and is eager to see it developed further to accomplish the intended goals. This was demonstrated by the Ruler’s trips to the project, such as his last-October meeting and visit to the Sharjah Safari, where he was given an overview of the process, the locations and rates of animal reproduction, and the draw of further endangered species.

A number of new projects, additions, departments, and facilities were approved by the Ruler of Sharjah at the end of his visit in order to move forward with the project’s next phase. The documentary “Sharjah Safari,” which was made by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority in collaboration with the EPAA and the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, earned the Best Feature Documentary Award at the New York International Film Awards Cup.
The movie faced fierce competition at its debut international film festival from a variety of artworks and documentaries. The movie was also included by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority at the Mipcom 2022 “International Exposition for the Entertainment and Television Content Market,” which took place in October in Cannes, France. Famous television and entertainment producers, as well as representatives from 100 different nations, were drawn to the exhibition to learn about the development of the Sharjah Safari project and its extensive collection of wildlife models.
