Dubai: Emirates NBD has recently joined a commitment to accelerate the fulfillment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls.
Emirates NBD Group, in its ongoing efforts to advance gender equality and enhance the representation of women in leadership positions, is now part of a select group of eight prominent local and multinational companies in the UAE that have signed the SDG 5 Pledge.
This pledge was made at an event organized by the UAE Gender Balance Council (GBC) and aligns with the UAE government’s objective of promoting greater gender equity and representation across both public and private sectors.
As a member of this pledge, the banking group will collaborate closely with the UAE GBC to support the UAE’s vision of accomplishing all 17 UN SDGs, with particular emphasis on goal number 5. This goal aims to foster awareness about the significance of ensuring women’s complete and meaningful participation, as well as equal opportunities, at all levels of decision-making.
Mr. Eman Abdulrazzaq, Group Chief Human Resource Officer at Emirates NBD, commented that “the SDG 5 Pledge is a visible testament to our efforts towards bridging gender balance gaps and achieving gender parity in decision-making positions. We are proud to have strong female representation on our workforce that remains well above the global benchmark for financial services.”
