Dubai: The Dubai Police Athletes Council has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation to boost cooperation in sports mainly in five disciplines, including épée fencing, 200-meter freestyle swimming, obstacle course, running, and laser pistol shooting.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Maryam Anas Al Matroushi, Chairman of the Athletes Council at Dubai Police, and Ms. Huda Al Matroushi, President of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, at the Dubai Officers Club.
The signing demonstrates that Dubai Police and the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation are dedicated to working together more closely in sports. This partnership aims to reach common objectives and strengthen their cooperative efforts effectively.
Dr. Maryam Al Matroushi has commended the collaborative relationship with the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, highlighting Dubai Police’s commitment to fostering partnerships with both the public and private sectors in the sports field.
The agreement states that the Sports Council of Dubai Police will select students and staff to join modern pentathlon competitions. Additionally, a specific set of employees will be chosen for different training and growth initiatives.
The MoU emphasizes Dubai Police’s commitment to helping the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation with talent discovery among local schools and within Dubai Police.
Its objective is to discover promising athletes and invest in their development, create training programs, and offer sports facilities and equipment for organizing championships and national modern pentathlon team camps, aligning with the federation’s agenda. It also involves establishing collaborative work teams and committees to accomplish the defined objectives effectively.
Meanwhile, the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation will actively engage players, coaches, referees, and sporting talents in tournaments. It will also focus on training and preparing players, coaches, and referees while simultaneously fostering the culture of modern pentathlon, as per the statement.
