Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development has joined forces with Valeo to enhance the automotive industry in Abu Dhabi.
The collaboration aims to establish a technology hub dedicated to manufacturing components for autonomous and electric vehicles in the emirate. This initiative will not only support local electric car startups but also foster cooperation with existing electric vehicle companies in Abu Dhabi.
Valeo intends to leverage its advanced technologies and commitment to sustainability in order to explore new areas of development, particularly in the context of creating environmentally friendly cities.
Through this agreement, the design and production of electric and autonomous car components will be prioritised. This endeavour aligns with the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy (ADIS), which seeks to promote smart and sustainable mobility and contribute to the advancement of the transportation sector. These efforts are in accordance with ADIS’s broader vision of leveraging innovative technologies, such as those associated with Industry 4.0, to facilitate Abu Dhabi’s transition towards a smart, circular, and sustainable economy.
Mr. Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, Undersecretary of ADDED, attended the signing ceremony of the agreement, which was signed by Eng. Arafat Al Yafei, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), ADDED’s arm to develop the industrial sector in Abu Dhabi, and Eng. Tamer ALY, Group Technical Centre Vice President and Valeo Egypt General Manager, in Abu Dhabi.

Tamer ALY, Group Technical Center Vice president, and Valeo Egypt General Manager, commented that “I am really happy about this MoU signing that allows Valeo , the market leader in design and producing high technology automotive components for autonomous and electric cars, to have a footprint in Abu Dhabi to avail their components and technologies to the rising up automotive industry in Abu Dhabi, and as well transferring this experience to the high tech and advanced education societies in Abu Dhabi.”
