South Africa: The UAE has officially joined the BRICS group with the approval of the five founding nations. The BRICS is a group of five countries, including Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.
The announcement was made at the 15th BRICS Summit, which was held from 22 to 24, 2023. It is the first expansion of the BRICS in over a decade. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Argentina were the other countries that got into the group.
The UAE has been a long-term partner of the BRICS group. This achievement is part of the UAE’s effort to support peace and development for the benefit and well-being of people and nations across the world.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated.
“This development forms part of the UAE’s commitment to promoting constructive dialogue through active platforms that represent developing and emerging economies and the country’s focus on long-term economic prosperity and maintaining balanced strategic and economic relations including with international organizations, in an ever-evolving world order. The UAE has consistently championed the value of multilateralism in supporting peace, security, and development globally, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs further added.
The UAE joined the BRICS New Development Bank in October 2021, after it was established in 2015 to mobilize resources for infrastructure and sustainable development projects in emerging markets, developing countries, and BRICS nations, as per the statement.
