Al Reem Island: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, one of the prominent higher education institutions in the region, recently hosted a special event on the campus to honor the winners of Sheikh Zayed Book Award, one of the Arab world’s most prestigious and well-funded prizes.
While recognizing the winners for their achievements, the event also strived to promote and highlight the role of literature in the region. During the event, students were able to meet the winners, benefit from their experiences, and learn from their successful literary journey.

Professor Silvia Serrano, Vice-Chancellor of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi welcomed the winners to the campus in his address. The event witnessed the presence of;
- Mohamed Aldahi, winner of Sheikh Zayed award in the Art & Literary Criticism category for “Al Sarid wa Taw’am al Rooh: Min al Tamtheel ila al Istinaa” (The Narrator and the Soulmate: From Acting to Faking) and
- Iman Mersal, winner in the Literature category in 2021 for her book “Fee Athar Enayat Al-Zayyat” (In the Footsteps of Enayat Al-Zayyat).
Supporting literary work can have a major impact on the intellectual development of society. Literature can help us understand our past and present and empower us to build the future we aspire for. Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is proud to host the winners of Sheikh Zayed Book Award and thus contribute to promoting literature and culture in the region and providing students with the opportunity to learn and benefit from renowned writers and intellectuals.
