Sharjah: The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has approved a 2024 draft law that amends Law No. 5 of 2014, focusing on the restructuring of the Police Sciences Academy in Sharjah.
This approval was granted following the implementation of a number of changes, and the project was discussed during its fourth session in the regular first legislative term of the eleventh session. The Consultative Council Chairman, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, presided over the meeting.
The council deliberated on the draft law for the restructuring of the Police Sciences Academy and the accompanying report presented by the Committee on Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security Affairs, and Public Facilities of the Council.
The deliberations took place in the presence of Dr. Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, Head of the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah, and Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Police Academy, along with Lieutenant Colonel Jamal Ahmed Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of Administrative Affairs at the Officers’ College.
The members discussed how the law’s various provisions aim to develop and accomplish the academy’s tasks within the council’s jurisdictions. These included rules for the use of lecturers, accreditation of certificates and academic degrees granted by the academy, and appointments of faculty and training staff.
They looked at various sections of the law project that controlled the director’s authority and powers, as well as the academy’s work system. They also talked about giving the academy more influence over training, development, and academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students. These will be supervised by the scientific committee of the council.
