Ras Al Khaimah: The Supreme Council member and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, claimed that the arts and culture act as a universal language that unites people from different countries and cultures and conveys a noble message that fosters tolerance and harmony, improves communication, and helps build societies based on solid ideals.
“Culture and arts are an integral part of building communities and a key pillar of Ras Al Khaimah’s sustainable development,” Sheikh Saud said last night as he opened the 12th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival, organized by the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Public Policy Research.
The festival, which has 106 local and international artists participating and is being held at Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village with the theme “Movement,” runs through February 29.
The Ras Al Khaimah Ruler praised Ras Al Khaimah Art’s rising prominence on the UAE’s cultural and artistic scene and said that the festival represents the Emirate’s rich history and legacy. He also commended the organizers of the premier event.
Sheikh Saud greeted artists and dignitaries from different nations to the one-of-a-kind cultural festival, reiterating Ras Al Khaimah’s dedication to strengthening the UAE’s reputation as a worldwide center for creative talent through supporting up-and-coming artists and organizing events of this kind.
This dedication results from the conviction that art, in all its forms and disciplines, reflects the culture and status of a society and inspires future generations with a message of hope that is timeless, he continued.
While touring the festival grounds and exhibition area, Sheikh Saud spoke with a number of artists about the nature of their respective works.
The Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival is held in Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village, one of the most captivating historical sites in the Emirate. Built in the 17th century, the village serves as a global hub for artistic talent. The festival solidifies the Emirate’s position as a center for human creativity and the arts by offering a wide range of artistic events, activities, and workshops.
