Abu Dhabi: The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), a cultural hub of UAE, has partnered with the NYUAD Music Program to present Mr. Matthew Quayle, the American composer, pianist, and Assistant Arts Professor of Music, in a world premiere of original piano sonatas.
At the concert, which is set to premiere online on October 25, 2021, at 7:30 PM (local time) live from the Red Theatre, Mr. Quayle will perform his complete series of original piano sonatas.
Written over a span of 25 years, these powerful works explore a wide range of styles and emotions. Mr. Quayle will perform the world premiere of his meditative Sonata, after the brooding grief of the first sonata, the protest and violence of the second, and the bluesy ebullience of the third.
Mr. Quayle’s compositional output ranges from concert orchestral works to cabaret songs. He has received commissions and performances from world-famous soloists and ensembles such as Akira Saxophone Quartet, Alarm Will Sound, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Allentown Symphony Orchestra, Emanuele Arciuli, Arditti String Quartet, and Avalon String Quartet, among others.
Mr. Quayle is currently an Associate Arts Professor at NYU Abu Dhabi, where he has taught since 2012 and has served as Program Head of Music from 2017 to 2020.
The world premiere of original piano sonatas will be streamed online through social media platforms including Facebook and YouTube as well as via nyuad-artscenter(dot)org with free ticket registration.
