Chocolate is the one thing that has fans of all gender and age and goes with every emotion of human beings. White chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and more to chug down for chocoholics.
Chocolate has proven health benefits and is used to relax stress and mood swings. The key ingredients are cacao, coco powder, milk, and sweet. However, in Russia, there is a rare and unusual ingredient, Cow’s Blood, which has made Hematogen chocolate bars famous. For most of us, this combination may seem weird because we have only heard of alcohol or even jalapenos in chocolate mixtures, yet it is popular among Russians.

BLOOD CANDIES
The chocolate is healthy and wholesome and is also helpful with anaemia, a condition by which 25 percent population suffers. The bar tastes like a taffy-like candy since it was made with condensed milk, syrup, and beet sugar. This was a win-win situation for Russian children, who were able to gorge themselves on these delicacies in the name of good health.
This chocolate contains a minimum of five percent black food albumin, a fantasy name for blood. It is often considered a medicinal product and is available at pharmacies across the USSR.
Blood-based products were discovered not just in Russia, but also in Europe. Hematopan, a licorice-sweetened blood powder, Haemosan, a delicious drink created with lecithin, calcium glycerophosphate, and blood protein are documented examples. All of them, though, are yummy.
HISTORY OF BLOOD-CUISINE
The motto behind consuming blood was medicinal. But as blood spoils very quickly, they needed for long shelf-life for blood-made products. That is how chocolate with blood, hematogen were made.

People may have a bizarre reaction to it but it tastes delicious like any other chocolate. Hematogen bars provide about 10 milligrams of elemental iron, which is within the range of iron supplements suggested for children. Most Hematogen manufacturers advise against eating more than one or one-and-a-half bars per day for children, and against eating them while breastfeeding, pregnant, or if one has diabetes.
