Tehran: The Iranian military has stated that its recent drone and missile strike on Israel, which was a retaliatory act for the attack on its consulate in Damascus, has fulfilled its objectives and will not be continued.
This operation, named “Operation Honest Promise,” targeted key Israeli facilities and was concluded successfully, according to Mohammad Bagheri, the Iranian armed forces’ chief of staff.
The attack came as a response to an April 1 strike on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus, attributed to Israel, which destroyed a consular building and the deaths of several Revolutionary Guards, including two generals. In retaliation, Iran targeted what it claims was an intelligence center and an airbase involved in the initial strike against its consulate.
Despite claims from Israel that the damage was minimal, Bagheri described the destruction as significant. He emphasized that the operation was a completed action, and urged Israel to refrain from further military engagement, warning of a more substantial response if provoked.
Additionally, Bagheri issued a caution to the United States, warning against support of any future Israeli actions against Iran, highlighting potential risks to American bases.
The operation has been hailed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief, Hossein Salami, as exceeding expectations and significantly impairing Israeli capabilities used in the attack on Iran’s embassy. Salami also reiterated the possibility of further countermeasures if Iranian interests are threatened anew.
