Dubai: Emirati sailor Mr. Issa Muhammad Al Falasi, 63, has received honors from Dubai Police for his heroic rescue of eight fishermen and the recovery of two bodies following a boat capsizing during a fishing trip.
Major General Ahmed Mohammed Rafie, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Community Happiness and Logistics Affairs, presented the recognition upon the directives from Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
During a fishing trip, Mr. Al Falasi observed a person battling against the waves. Immediately springing into action, he provided initial medical aid after rescuing the individual. It was only then he discovered that nine others from the capsized boat required assistance. With remarkable courage and skill, Mr. Al Falasi succeeded in saving eight fishermen of Indian and Pakistani origin. Sadly, two others had perished in the waters by the time he reached them.
Major General Rafie praised Mr. Al Falasi’s swift and selfless response, highlighting it as an example of the Emirati spirit of helping others, especially in dire situations.
Mr. Al Falasi, expressing his gratitude for the recognition, emphasized that his actions were driven by a deep sense of humanitarian duty and his commitment as a UAE citizen to assist those in need. He also took the opportunity to advise those planning fishing trips or similar outings to prioritize safety and adhere to necessary precautions.
This act of heroism not only showcases Mr. Al Falasi’s bravery but also underscores the importance of readiness and compassion in critical situations.
