Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates’ official press agency, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) recently took part in the 21st meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) news agencies.
The gathering which was held virtually, witnessed the attendance of officials from the GCC news agencies and the General Secretariat.
DISCUSSION POINTS
The event discussed the decision of the Supreme Council at the 41st and 42nd Summits, in addition to the GCC secretariat’s recommendation to draft its 2023-2027 plan aimed at identifying the joint action priorities of news agencies.
Attendees also engaged upon several suggestions aimed at drafting the future of joint GCC media action covering the work of news agencies, which will help encourage media cooperation and the exchange of expertise.
Speaking at the virtual session, Mr. Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, emphasized the significance of strengthening joint GCC media action to help drive the process of sustainable development and reinforce the community’s awareness, through releasing media content characterized by credibility and development.
During his address, Mr. Al Rayssi urged the participants at the gathering to participate in the Global Media Congress, which will take place from the 15th of November to the 17th , 2022 in Abu Dhabi.
The WAM Director-General expressed his gratitude to the representatives of GCC news agencies for taking part at the session and welcomed their engagement in the Congress.
The WAM official praised them for their involvement in ensuring the sustainability of the media sector, which highlights the civilized image of GCC countries and their contributions to the progress and prosperity of the region.
