Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully concluded its Agility Week 2023, a five-day event aimed at fostering agility and resilience within the organization. The event brought together approximately 1,000 employees from multiple divisions and featured a range of activities held at various DEWA buildings.
Agility Week comprised lectures, workshops, and panel discussions led by specialists and experts from prominent local and international companies and organizations. The event kicked off at the DEWA Campus for Occupational and Academic Development with a keynote speech by Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD & CEO of DEWA. Mr. Al Tayer emphasized the significance of agility and resilience in both the public and private sectors, stressing the importance of continuously developing capabilities to effectively manage risks.
DEWA showcased its commitment to enterprise agility by implementing best practices within a comprehensive system of integrated enterprise work. This approach aims to enhance efficiency, productivity, creativity, innovation, employee engagement, resilience, and sustainable growth.
The first day of Agility Week featured a presentation titled ‘Innovative and Agile’ by Mr. Iman Alomrani, Chief Digital Advisor at Amazon Web Services in the UAE. The day also included a panel discussion on achieving organizational agility and the importance of adaptability in handling challenges and changes swiftly. Prominent participants in the discussion included Prof. Raed Alawamleh, Dean of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, Mr. Saeed Al Falasi, Executive Director – Future Design and Acceleration at the Dubai Future Foundation, and Mr. Mohammad Tariq, Head of Quality, Services & Technology Business Management at Emirates NBD. The session was moderated by Mr. Ahmad Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Senior Manager of Agility at DEWA. Dr. Stephen Niango, CEO of Digital Catalyst, delivered a speech on ‘Strategic Agility’ during the event.
Over the following four days, Agility Week continued with activities held at different DEWA locations, including the Innovation Tent at DEWA Head Office, the Generation Division at Jebel Ali Power Plant & Desalination Complex, DEWA’s building in Al Ruwayyah, and DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz. These activities encompassed panel discussions, presentations on organizational agility across DEWA’s divisions, and an exhibition showcasing initiatives and projects implemented by DEWA teams to support agility and keep pace with accelerating developments in all areas.
