Dubai: The CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, has met with the CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE), Eng. Yousif Al Ali, to enhance cooperation between the two organisations in the UAE’s energy and water sectors.
The meeting discussed strategies to integrate clean and renewable energy sources as well as use modern technologies to increase the efficiency of electricity and water networks in the UAE.
Mr. Al Tayer welcomed Mr. Al Ali, emphasising the importance of collaboration and coordination among all entities in the electricity and water sectors to achieve the national goals of energy security, sustainability, and efficiency.

The DEWA CEO highlighted the authority’s energy programs, plans, and projects to strengthen its global competitive position, particularly in clean and renewable energy, sustainability, and the green economy. Mr. Al Tayer explained that DEWA had achieved very competitive results globally, surpassing prominent European and American utilities in efficiency and reliability.
In addition, Mr. Al Ali discussed EtihadWE’s role in ensuring water security and developing the electricity sector’s infrastructure, providing water and electricity to nearly 1.5 million consumers across five emirates.

The EtihadWE CEO discussed the company’s most significant strategic projects, including a new desalination plant in Umm Al Quwain with a production capacity of 150 million gallons per day, a recently launched strategic storage and distribution centre, and the company’s use of modern technologies and innovations.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Al Ali expressed his pride in the partnership between EtihadWE and DEWA and his aspirations to explore new horizons for partnership in the future. The visit aimed to build closer ties between government organisations in the UAE and enhance cooperation between the two sides to achieve their national goals of energy security, sustainability, and efficiency.
