Abu Dhabi: The Center for Philosophical Studies at Mohamed Bin Zayed University for the Humanities (MBZUH) has confirmed that it will host its first activity, “The International Ethics and Philosophy Conference,” in order to become an eminent global knowledge hub for philosophical studies and support the UAE’s advocacy for tolerance and coexistence.
The event, which is slated for November 17th and 18th, 2022, falls in line with World Philosophy Day celebrations worldwide. Renowned academics from around the world will participate and present the most recent findings, research, and viewpoints on ethics and philosophy.
Topics including, “Philosophy of Ethics”, “Philosophy and Ethics of Ibn Tufail”, “Philosophy of Tolerance”, “Philosophy of Divine Law and Morals”, “Ethics in Aristotelian Philosophy”, and “Ethics from the Perspectivhigh-leveltian Thought” will be discussed at the Conference.
Additionally, top-notch research papers highlighting critical and analytical readings of Spinoza’s Book of Ethics and other significant philosophical works will be presented.
Dr. Al Dhaheri also remarked that, the Conference intends to discuss how philosophy and ethics are related by emphasizing ethics in philosophical thought on both a theoretical and practical level.
“This will help further advance interest in the development of research and studies on values in general and moral values in particular. It also comes in line with the Abu Dhabi government’s endeavor to make values an effective means and a desired end for evaluating thought and behavior,” the MBZUH Chancellor further added.
Dr. Al Dhaheri emphasized that the International Conference on Philosophy and Ethics, which will be held annually to represent Abu Dhabi and the University’s long-term goal of being a leader in the philosophy field, will further promote this aim.
