Abu Dhabi: In a move symbolizing unity and global solidarity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has officially accepted the invitation to inaugurate the BAPS Sanstha Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. Scheduled for February 2024 (The date has not been decided), this significant event underscores the deepening cultural and spiritual ties between India and the United Arab Emirates.
Designed to resemble a blossoming lotus flower, the temple is set to be the largest of its kind in the UAE. This architectural wonder not only represents religious harmony but also signifies the flourishing relationship between the two nations.
The invitation was extended in New Delhi, where BAPS organization representatives, including Swami Ishwarcharandas and Swami Brahmaviharidas, met Prime Minister Modi. Delighted by this gesture, Modi expressed his enthusiastic support for what he termed a “historic and iconic temple.”
During this nearly hour-long meeting, discussions centered on the temple’s role in promoting global harmony, aligning with Modi’s vision of India’s spiritual leadership on the world stage. The BAPS delegation also took this opportunity to pray for Modi’s health and to acknowledge his contributions to strengthening India’s ties with the UAE and other Middle Eastern countries.
The establishment of the Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi is a testament to more than just enhanced India-UAE relations. It symbolizes the dawn of a deeper, more profound relationship between India and Arab nations.
Situated in Abu Mureikha on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, the temple’s journey began in 2015 when UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan granted 27 acres for its construction. This significant move was announced during Modi’s first visit to the UAE, with the foundation stone laid in 2018, paving the way for this monumental cultural landmark.
