Abu Dhabi: The UAE has expressed extreme concern about the Israeli military’s plans to begin an operation in the Rafah area, which is home to displaced Palestinians in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, as well as the potential catastrophic humanitarian consequences of such an operation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning in a statement against military action that could worsen the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and result in the loss of more innocent lives.
The Ministry reaffirmed how strongly it opposes all acts that go against international law, humanitarian law, and resolutions of international legitimacy, including the forcible displacement of the fraternal Palestinian people.
To stop the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory from getting worse and to prevent more deaths, the Ministry called on the international community to act quickly to negotiate a ceasefire. The Ministry also demanded that efforts be made to establish a fair and comprehensive peace while averting regional spillovers that run the risk of escalating hostilities, tension, and instability.
The UAE’s stance, which advocates for a restart of talks to establish a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state, was restated by the Ministry.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has joined leaders in denouncing the Israeli offensive on Rafah, stating that it would “lead to an unspeakable humanitarian catastrophe and grave tensions with Egypt” in the most recent development.
The UNRWA head has been urged to step down and accept responsibility by the Israeli envoy to the UN over claims that Hamas has been using the organization’s schools, as per the report.
