Dubai: The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi, through the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), is temporarily closing a number of roads in the city ahead of the fifth running of the Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon on December 16.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council are in charge of organizing the marathon.
The traffic management team of the ITC will coordinate and oversee traffic flow through the ITC central control room, working in tandem with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Police. In addition, electronic signs, both stationary and mobile, will be used to monitor and guide drivers on the road network.
Road Service Patrols (RSP) will be made available by the ITC to assist drivers in the vicinity of the event. It should be noted that the international marathon’s routes will be closed from 12 am to 2 pm.
Corniche Road (both ways), King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street (outbound), Al Bateen Street (outbound), Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (outbound), Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street (inbound), and the streets surrounding Al Hosn Palace are among the roads that are temporarily closing.
The race will begin at the Adnoc headquarters on the Corniche in Abu Dhabi and travel past some of the most famous sites in the city, including the World Trade Center, Al Bateen Palace, Al Hosn Palace, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, before finishing at the ADNOC Complex, which is close to Baynunah Park.
