Abu Dhabi: Erin Gore, the CEO of World Central Kitchen (WCK), a US nonprofit organization specializing in supplying meals to individuals affected by humanitarian disasters, has met with the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
To satisfy the immediate humanitarian need in the Gaza Strip and maximize the delivery of supplies to the region by land, air, and sea, the parties discussed methods to increase coordination between WCK and major UAE institutions during the meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
The two sides talked about how the UAE is helping to organize support for the Amalthea maritime corridor initiative, which aims to send humanitarian aid to Gaza. They also talked about the recent arrival of the first ship via the maritime corridor between Cyprus and Gaza, which is carrying 200 tones of food and relief supplies. The UAE, WCK, and Cyprus are involved in this initiative.
In a statement, the President expressed gratitude for World Central Kitchen’s humanitarian work globally, particularly in disaster-affected countries, and for its efforts to provide relief to the Gaza Strip. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with the group and other international and regional partners in order to improve humanitarian assistance and lessen the suffering of Gaza’s citizens.
Gore mentioned how much she valued Sheikh Mohamed’s efforts and the UAE’s assistance in delivering humanitarian relief to Gaza, citing the productive collaboration between WCK and the UAE.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
