Egypt: The UAE Floating Hospital, which is anchored in the Port of Al-Arish and offers the Palestinian people essential medical care, has been officially started its service. This important healthcare project got underway as soon as the first patients, Gazans with various fractures and injuries, were admitted.
As part of the humanitarian effort known as “Gallant Knight 3,” the project complies with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s orders to offer the Gaza Strip’s residents all types of support and aid. A 20-year-old Palestinian guy who had been injured by gunshots and shrapnel had his first operation at the hospital.
Image: WAMThe Department of Health—Abu Dhabi and AD Ports Group collaborated to establish the Floating Hospital, which employs 100 medical and administrative personnel from various specialties, including emergency medicine, general surgery, anesthesia, and orthopedics, in addition to nurses and support personnel.
Dr. Falah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Floating Hospital, said that the inauguration of the hospital will enhance the medical support system provided by the UAE to the people of the afflicted sector and alleviate the severity of the conditions they suffer from.
The hospital is equipped with the best and latest equipment that contributes to providing all types of treatment and medical care according to the best international standards and protocols.
With the Floating Hospital, essential medical services are now available throughout the Gaza Strip, building on the success of the UAE integrated field hospital in Gaza. The current integrated field hospital, which opened its doors in December 2023, has 200 beds and a committed group of 83 volunteers from 21 different countries, consisting of 59 men and 24 women.
During the previous few months, the UAE field hospital in Gaza handled over 6,620 cases requiring medical intervention by the hospital team in order to provide the necessary treatment and care, from first aid to performing life-saving surgeries, providing the necessary medications and treatments, and concluding with care and intensive care for those cases, in addition to consultations and other medical and therapeutic services. Over 764 major and minor surgeries were performed at the hospital.
