Sharjah: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) will participate in UAE Innovates 2024, the largest event in the country promoting innovation, creativity, and visionary minds.
The event will be held in Sharjah until February 21st, aligning with the Emirate’s goal to become a global cultural hub and emphasize museums’ role in enhancing cultural and educational spaces. SMA is inviting the public to participate in innovative initiatives and events throughout the week to elevate museum standards, preserve collections, promote culture, and education.
“Innovation in Museum Learning” will take place at Sharjah Fort and Bait Al Naboodah, combining technology and augmented reality to revive historical stories.
The project, a collaboration between American University’s IDEAS Institute and Sharjah University, aims to animate historical sites and museum artifacts in a virtual and augmented reality environment. This innovative approach connects Emirati youth with their heritage, using artificial intelligence for an immersive experience.
The Sharjah Archaeology Museum is launching an “Innovation in Living” initiative, allowing visitors to experience ancient human survival methods and early settlement development.
The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation is launching a tactile tour aimed at inclusivity, featuring models from its collections for visually impaired visitors. This hands-on learning experience will provide context and knowledge through tactile interaction. Braille labels and booklets offer a comprehensive tactile experience of Islamic civilization and antiquities.
The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization will provide a guided tour in sign language for visitors with hearing disabilities on February 18.
