Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will allow for cross-destination travel, with a focus on adventure tourism.
The partnership also enables travelers to visit the UAE’s northernmost Emirate and Oman’s Musandam Governorate on a single trip. The MoU seeks to drive tourism growth in Ras Al Khaimah and Musandam in Oman, through joint promotion and marketing initiatives.
The Al Hajar mountain range, which connects Ras Al Khaimah and Musandam, has rapidly become a hub for adventure and eco-tourism projects in both destinations.
Ras Al Khaimah, home to the world’s first Bear Grylls Explorers Camp that is associated with the famed British adventurer, also offers adventure enthusiasts experiences on Jebel Jais, the highest mountain peak in the UAE, such as the Jais Flight, the longest zipline in the world.
In addition to offering a variety of water sports like diving, snorkeling, and kayaking, Musandam is home to the longest over-water zipline in the world.
Dr. Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, OMRAN Group’s Chief Executive Officer, remarked that, “This MoU underscores the pivotal role tourism authorities play in championing natural assets and cultural heritage. Through our joint efforts, we aim to craft distinctive and innovative experiences for global travelers, further enhancing the allure of our region.”
