Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Centre, working alongside Abu Dhabi Maritime, has officially opened Saadiyat Marina & Ferry Terminal and Rabdan Marina. These modern facilities offer a range of services and amenities for the convenience of local mariners and boat owners. The emirate’s infrastructure and marine connectivity are improved by the inauguration.
Designed as a flexible marine hub for various kinds of vessels, Saadiyat Marina & Ferry Terminal has 64 floating pontoons for mooring vessels, a 10-meter-wide slipway, 12 dry berths, six commercial outlets, 70 parking spaces, and contemporary administrative buildings, among other facilities. In addition, it has a modern ferry port with two boat ramps that connect Saadiyat to other islands and serve both tourists and the nautical community.
Rabdan Marina is located in the Rabdan neighborhood of Abu Dhabi and has 19 berths for recreational boats and jet skis, a 14-meter-wide slipway, 18 dry berths, food and beverage shops, dockside utilities, and round-the-clock security and CCTV monitoring. In addition, the marina provides many services such as aided berthing, cleaning and engine flushing, and boat recovery and launch.
The marina provides views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and has several retail establishments catering to locals, visitors, and boaters.
To realize the shared goal of DMT and AD Ports Group, which goes beyond infrastructure expansions and includes the responsible management of marine ecosystems, the Integrated Transport Center collaborates with Abu Dhabi Maritime. Understanding that the growth of Saadiyat Marina would affect the nearby marine environment, a great deal of study was done in association with the Environment and Sustainability division of AD Ports Group.
Consequently, the seabed of the Saadiyat Marina & Ferry Terminal was outfitted with seventeen ecological articulated concrete beds and eco sea wall panels on the quay walls. These panels are made of distinct materials that blend in well with the surrounding landscape. In addition to attracting and encouraging the growth of creatures, the mattresses created by a science-based firm and the panels created by a cutting-edge tech company also enhance water quality and biodiversity, helping to preserve marine life and its habitats.
HE Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, remarked that, “The opening of Saadiyat Marina & Ferry Terminal and Rabdan Marina confirms our commitment to creating waterfronts that go beyond the concept of infrastructure alone, leading to the creation of a thriving marine ecosystem. Our continuous work to modernise Abu Dhabi’s maritime sector is in line with the rapid changes taking place in the world, to provide sustainable infrastructure that shapes the future of maritime excellence in our emirate.
“Our goal is to maintain Abu Dhabi’s position among the ranks of the leading global commercial and maritime centers, and to strengthen our maritime sector and modernize it with high-level infrastructure and services, in accordance with our strategic vision to encourage the sustainability of the marine environment and stimulate positive interaction between the various components of the marine environment,” Al Marzouqi added.
