Dubai: Expo City Dubai is holding Hai Ramadan celebrations as part of the #RamadanInDubai campaign. Residents and tourists can enjoy a variety of unique cultural and traditional experiences, family-friendly activities, delicious iftars and suhoors, and lively craft markets.
Expo City Dubai is once again home to the Iftar Cannon, with a single shot fired to notify everyone of iftar timings each evening. The Sustainability District is home to a special mosque that is open to worshippers during all times of prayer, including Isha, Taraweeh, and Tahajjud.
Al Wasl Plaza in Expo City Dubai is at the heart of Hai Ramadan celebrations, embodying the dual meaning of the Arabic word ‘hai’ as both neighborhood and welcome. For the festivities, The Plaza provides a magical ambiance that beckons guests to lose themselves in a sentimental, spiritual trip.
The captivating Immersive Story Time with Al Wasl is one of the breathtaking immersive projections that transform Al Wasl Plaza as dusk falls. These gorgeous projections have been particularly chosen for the month-long event. Al Wasl herself tells unique tales about the prophets to the kids gathering under the dome during this session.
Amna Abulhoul, Executive Creative Director – Entertainment & Experiences, Expo City Dubai, said that, “The Holy Month of Ramadan fills us with a sense of anticipation and joy as we celebrate this time of reflection and gratitude. Expo City Dubai’s family-orientated Hai Ramadan brings together people of all nationalities to our community-focused city to commemorate some of the Islamic world’s most notable traditions.”
A wide selection of delectable food and beverages are available for guests to enjoy around the site, reflecting the delight of breaking fast and having a meal with a loved one.
More than 20 restaurants and food carts offer iftars, suhoors, and Ramadan treats. Specially curated iftars include family-friendly options at the recently opened Oasis Food Hall, corporate iftars at the Leadership Pavilion, and a special iftar and suhoor menu at Al Wasl Plaza Café.
Along with the bustling souks and local markets selling handcrafted goods, traditional clothing, and Ramadan-themed merchandise, visitors may also explore a “Grandmother’s Supermarket,” also known as Dukan Yadoo, where kids can purchase candies with tokens from a vintage “Floos Bank,” a well-liked method of payment.
