Abu Dhabi: The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) has introduced the Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award to promote environmental initiatives and encourage the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The award aims to enhance public interest in environmental work, recognize successful individuals who have excelled in the field of environmental work, and raise public awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
The first edition of the award will feature three main categories and six sub-categories for nominees from all over Abu Dhabi emirate.
The categories include the Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Medal, which recognizes individuals who have excelled in environmental work, the Environmental Research Award for the best scientific research in the field of environment and sustainable development, and the Environmental Performance Award for the best practices and pioneering activities in the field of environment and sustainable development for private institutions and industrial facilities.
Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, commented that “the launch of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Medal confirms EAD’s commitment to continuing its relentless endeavours to protect the environment and stimulate innovation in the field of the environment and green technology. The award aims to enhance the image and reputation of Abu Dhabi at the local and global level, by publishing national success stories and highlighting initiatives that contribute to environmental protection and the sustainability of natural resources.”
