Dubai: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is set to unveil Mobtakir, a new fast-track program and maker diploma designed to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential skills and knowledge to establish innovative product-based businesses in the local market. The program will equip participants with practical, hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of the market, enabling them to confidently pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions.
Starting on May 27th, 2023, Dubai Culture will team up with Colab to launch a seven-week maker diploma program called Mobtakir. The program aims to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge and practical skills required to launch product-based businesses in the local market. After a brief pause, the program will resume in early September 2023.
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority’s new maker diploma program, Mobtakir, is an effort of the collaboration between Al Quoz Creative Zone and The Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME), an organization under Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). With 14 modules and workshops, the program aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the practical skills and knowledge needed to launch innovative product-based businesses in the local market. Technical experts from various industries will deliver the program at several venues in Al Quoz, showcasing the extensive resources available to makers in the area.
The Mobtakir program’s maker diploma curriculum consists of three main areas, focusing on the development of both soft and hard skills. The diploma’s highlight is a Makathon competition where groups with assigned projects can implement what they have learned throughout the program. Upon completion of the program, participants will have a foundational understanding of the hardware entrepreneurship landscape, providing them with viable opportunities for personal and career growth.
Residents of the UAE, including students, professionals, small business owners, and employees leading entrepreneurial or innovative initiatives in their organizations, can apply for the Mobtakir program without any application fees. The program’s non-technical maker diploma is open to all community members with a keen interest in product ideas, innovation, or a vision for their field, but who may lack the necessary knowledge to get started. The program has limited capacity, and applications are currently being accepted until May 20th, 2023.
