Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has launched a significant initiative aimed at improving food safety standards in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As part of this initiative, “Zadna Rating” stickers will be installed on the exteriors of 6,900 food establishments across Abu Dhabi. These stickers will allow the public to easily access the assessment of food safety levels in these establishments by scanning the QR code printed on the label.
The primary objective behind this initiative is to establish high-quality standards and enhance the well-being of residents while positioning Abu Dhabi as a distinguished tourist destination. By providing transparent information about the compliance assessment of food establishments, ADAFSA aims to improve the dining experience for residents, tourists, and visitors.
The installation of “Zadna Rating” labels will cover a wide range of food establishments, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and catering establishments. The entire process is expected to be completed by the end of August this year. The initiative has been launched as an electronic platform that enables easy access to compliance assessments for all Abu Dhabi residents. The platform can be accessed through a dedicated mobile application, by visiting the electronic application directly, or by observing the evaluation stickers displayed on the front of food establishments.
The “Zadna Rating” system provides evaluations of food establishments based on their level of food safety compliance. It also assesses the establishment’s participation in the Sehhi program of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre. By offering these assessments, the initiative aims to encourage food establishments to improve their performance and raise the overall level of food safety in Abu Dhabi.
This transparent system enhances consumer confidence in ADAFSA’s control procedures and promotes transparency in presenting inspection results. It also inspires food establishments to strive for excellence and creates a more flexible and innovative environment for economic activities.
The “Zadna Rating” for food establishments consists of two separate assessments that have been merged into one comprehensive rating. The evaluation considers factors such as design and structure, equipment and waste disposal facilities, hygiene of food handlers, food handling and temperature control areas, as well as food safety management systems, documents, and records. With the introduction of “Zadna Rating” stickers, ADAFSA aims to create a safer and healthier dining experience for the public in Abu Dhabi while promoting continuous improvement in food safety practices among food establishments.
