Abu Dhabi: The General Women’s Union (GWU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC). The MoU intends to improve the production and management of data on women in the UAE.
Their partnership also aims to enhance the country’s stature in quality of life and competitiveness indexes related to women in international reports.
Ms. Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the GWU, and Ms. Hanan Ahli, Director of the FCSC, have signed the MoU.
Ms. Al Suwaidi stressed that the optimal utilization of data and technology could help provide accurate information for decision-makers in a timely manner, allowing them to adopt a forward-looking vision.
Additionally, she emphasized the significance of enhancing collaborations with pertinent national organizations.
This approach would enable GWU to put into action the guidance of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, renowned as the “Mother of the Nation” and holding key positions in GWU, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and the Family Development Foundation.
The objective is to transform this guidance into impactful projects and plans that pave the way for a sustainable future for women and empower Emirati women in various life domains.
Ms. Ahli highlighted the importance of leveraging information and statistics to improve decision-making and draft policies that affect women’s empowerment.
The director mentioned that the MoU would allow for the creation of new and creative plans and projects. These initiatives aim to empower Emirati women, showcase the UAE’s efforts in this regard, and enhance the country’s standing in global competitiveness rankings.
