Sharjah: Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) and Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) are teaming up to offer Emirati filmmakers an opportunity. They’re inviting them to apply for a funding opportunity of AED 25,000 ($6,806). This grant aims to support independent Emirati cinema, with one recipient being jointly chosen by SAF and ADMAF.
The recipients of this special grant will have access to chances and career-building exercises that will facilitate their integration into the global experimental filmmaking community.
The seventh edition of the Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) Short Film Production Grant, presented by the Sharjah Art Foundation, includes this open invitation. The grant, which is given in connection with SFP, the Foundation’s yearly festival of independent film and moving picture, offers money to finish short films that push the envelope of modern filmmaking. Recipients of the grant will screen their finished films at a later SFP event.
A work having a total runtime of 50 minutes or less, including credits, is considered a short film for this grant. To be evaluated on their overall vision for their film, including genre, theme, structure, and plot; the uniqueness of their script; and their technical and creative abilities, applicants must submit a recorded three-minute pitch.
