Abu Dhabi: The UAE has once again secured a prestigious award at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2024, honoring outstanding tech projects promoting sustainable development.
At a special award ceremony held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at its headquarters in Geneva, winners worldwide were recognized for their creative approaches to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. More than 193 countries submitted initiatives and projects for consideration.
With six prestigious international awards at the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva, the UAE led the world in the number of awards received, demonstrating its leading position in the world in utilizing cutting-edge technology to advance sustainable development goals and enhance the quality of digital life.
One of the flagship initiatives that highlights the role of governments and all stakeholders in the promotion of ICTs for development is the “Cyber Pulse” program of the UAE Cyber Security Council. It is a comprehensive national initiative that secures the nation’s cyberspace and consolidates the concept of cyber national loyalty.
In addition to including workshops and sessions on information security incidents, the initiative aims to improve digital protection, ensure a safe digital transformation, raise digital awareness among society’s members, and enable them to use digital technology’s advancements in a less dangerous environment to meet the nation’s sustainable development goals.
The Cyber Security Council’s effort was recognized for its extraordinary efficiency in using the finest global practices and standards in the field of cybersecurity, outperforming several projects submitted from across the world.
The Cyber Security Council stated that, in light of continuous efforts to develop and improve the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities, the award marks the conclusion of the UAE’s unshakable commitment to creating a safe and dependable digital society.
Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the Cyber Security Council of the UAE Government, remarked that,’’ The winning of the “Cyber Pulse” initiative for a prestigious award for the second consecutive year from the International Telecommunication Union is a new international testament to the UAE’s commitment to building a secure and reliable digital society and the country’s efforts in launching inspiring initiatives that contribute to strengthening cybersecurity culture among young people.’’
