Dubai: Applications for the fourth batch of the “Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designer” training, which covers solar PV systems and plants, design techniques, installation, testing, and maintenance, as well as evaluating solar PV projects, are now being accepted at the Innovation Center of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
The training program for developing technical abilities in solar and renewable energy is organized by the Innovation Center in partnership with TUV Rheinland Academy. Professional credentials in the design and installation of solar energy systems are awarded to participants who successfully finish the course and pass the final exam.

The training is part of the tight partnership between the Innovation Center, TUV Rheinland Academy, and other domestic and foreign academic institutions. This seeks to offer a cutting-edge learning and research environment that supports the center’s growing stature as a global hub for clean energy and renewable energy innovation.
The center is a vital resource for honing technical know-how and professional skills in the areas of sustainability, energy efficiency, and clean and renewable energy. They receive the knowledge, abilities, and resources needed to become the next wave of sustainability leaders and active contributors to hastening the energy transition through this kind of training. This is in line with the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which call for generating 100 percent of Dubai’s electricity from renewable sources by the year 2050.

Throughout the last three rounds, 120 applications were received and 65 applicants were declared winners of the “Integrated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Designer” program. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park’s Innovation Center will host the fourth class of students beginning in July 2024. The course seeks to increase the participants’ understanding of Standard IEC 60364-7-712: Electrical installations and protection against electric shock, Standard IEC 62446: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems – Requirements for testing, documentation, and maintenance, and the fundamentals of PV systems.
In addition, they study the fundamentals of PV plant design, the economic assessment of PV design, the design and configuration of PV components for Low Voltage on-grid and off-grid systems, and the computation of PV system size for both on- and off-grid scenarios.
