Abu Dhabi: The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has teamed up with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to develop a secure electronic system for sharing information. This system will collect and analyze marine water quality data, improving environmental monitoring and conservation efforts along Abu Dhabi’s coast.
Through the information-sharing system, ADNOC and EAD will be able to exchange thorough and current data on marine water quality, enabling them to keep an eye on changes in the environment and evaluate the effects of human activity on coastal ecosystems.
With the use of the data, EAD will be able to react to possible environmental hazards promptly and efficiently. Additionally, the system would make it easier for many stakeholders to collaborate and share knowledge, enabling a cohesive approach to environmental conservation and protection.
Faisal Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Environmental Quality Sector at EAD, said that, “We are always pleased to collaborate with our strategic partner, ADNOC, with whom we have worked on a series of successful sustainability projects. This new project will provide us with additional information that will enhance the accuracy of marine water quality data. It will also help us collect, analyse and share information about the state of marine water in Abu Dhabi.
“The project’s benefits are manifold, offering improved environmental protection, in alignment with the vision and aspirations of our leadership. With access to marine water quality data, we at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi can promptly respond to potential pollution incidents and take preventive measures, helping to better protect marine ecosystems and public health. We believe in data-driven decision-making, therefore the reliable and up-to-date shared data will enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of decision-making processes related to environmental policies and conservation efforts,” Al Hammadi added.
Data will be illustrated and portrayed via EAD’s Enviroportal to guarantee safe and effective data transfer between EAD and ADNOC. Access to environmental data on Abu Dhabi, including its marine habitats, protected zones, flora, wildlife, and geology, is possible through the portal.
