Dubai: A notable event for global business education, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business celebrated the commencement of its Class of 2024 at Healy Lawn in Washington, D.C.
The ceremony featured a keynote address by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, who received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa. This honor was in recognition of his significant contributions to both the public and private sectors, as well as to society at large.
Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia presented the honorary degree to Al Gergawi. The citation highlighted his career in public service, emphasizing his investments in education and innovation in human development, his efforts to advance his country’s growth while promoting the common good, and his strategic vision for a better world.
The event also marked the graduation of nearly 900 students who completed their graduate business programs. These graduates join Georgetown University’s esteemed global alumni network, which includes over 220,000 members worldwide.
In September 2023, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business launched its Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA) program in the UAE at the Dubai International Financial Center Academy.
The program, which admitted 54 students, focuses on innovation and foresight, offering courses in sustainability and AI development, key areas for the UAE’s economic growth. The first cohort of UAE students is set to graduate in 2025 after completing the 20-month program.
