Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO) and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, met with Zhu Yonglei, Vice Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China (NRTA), to discuss strengthening UAE and China media cooperation.
During Zhu Yonglei’s visit to the NMO headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdulla emphasized the importance of enhancing media coordination and cooperation between the two countries, reflecting their growing relationship. He highlighted the strong political will and mutual visits between the leadership of both nations, aiming to deepen relations and collaboration.
The meeting was part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China, focused on promoting sustainable development and prosperity. Sheikh Abdulla praised the existing media cooperation and expressed a desire to expand it further for mutual benefit.

The discussions covered various topics, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media sector, keeping up with the latest media technology, and global changes. Both parties affirmed their commitment to creating a distinguished model of media cooperation that would enrich the media landscapes in both countries.
The officials also discussed exchanging experiences and expertise, improving communication between media organizations, creating collaborative media projects, and exploring new opportunities to advance the media industry. This cooperation stems from the strong UAE-China strategic relations and their leadership.
The meeting, attended by Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director-General of the NMO, and Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized the importance of consolidating partnerships between media institutions in both countries to support shared media goals.

Sheikh Abdulla welcomed the delegation and discussed the upcoming visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to China on May 30th, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
Both sides praised the strong bilateral relations, which continue to grow due to the leadership’s commitment to elevating them across various sectors, including economic, media, political, cultural, and scientific.
Sheikh Abdulla highlighted the UAE’s media laws, which promote national talent and Emirati content, aligning with the leadership’s guidance to advance the media industry. He noted the UAE’s position as a leading global media hub, providing a platform and infrastructure for international media entities, fostering creativity and collaboration.
“In our media community, there are over 10,000 companies and more than 350,000 professionals involved in cultural and creative industries,” Sheikh Abdulla concluded.
