Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has kicked off ‘Gas and Petroleum Safety Campaign’ aimed at enhancing the safe use and trading of gas and petroleum products. The initiative seeks to promote safety standards, best practices, and new regulatory requirements across the emirate.
The campaign targets commercial, industrial, and residential sectors, emphasizing the importance of safety in the daily use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). DoE teams will visit restaurants, shopping malls, hotels, residential buildings, villas, storage facilities, and large plants to raise awareness and support compliance with safety regulations.
Dr. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Acting Director-General of Regulatory Affairs at DoE, inaugurated the campaign with visits to Al Khalidiya Mall and Al Bateen Park Villas to inspect their gas systems.
Ahmed Alsayed Mohamed Alsheebani, Acting Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs for Petroleum Products, urged operators to seek DoE assistance for regulatory clarifications. “We are here to promote public safety and support compliance,” he emphasized.
Recently, the DoE was tasked with regulating all non-ADNOC private operators in the trading of petroleum products in Abu Dhabi. This involves creating a unified permit platform to monitor trading activities and standardize regulations.
The DoE’s collaborative approach with the petroleum products sector and enforcement partners reflects its commitment to a safe, secure, and sustainable energy supply in Abu Dhabi.
