New Delhi: Indians and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) arriving at Delhi airport can now enjoy a hassle-free entry into the country through e-gates, where their passports and boarding passes will be scanned, and their biometrics digitally authenticated. This new facility is part of the “Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme” (FTI-TTP) inaugurated by India’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, at Delhi airport.
In its second phase, the program will expand to include all arriving foreign travelers. Once stabilized at Delhi airport’s Terminal 3, the service will be rolled out to seven other major airports: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. Eventually, 21 international airports in India will benefit from this scheme, significantly reducing long queues at entry points.
“The FTI-TTP will be implemented through an online portal, with the Bureau of Immigration acting as the nodal agency for fast-track immigration under this programme,” stated the Ministry of Home Affairs in a press release.
To enroll, applicants must register online with their details and required documents. After verification, a White List of Trusted Travellers will be generated for implementation through e-gates. The registration will be valid until the passport expires or for five years, whichever comes first, and can be renewed thereafter.
