Sharjah: The Sharjah Consultative Council’s first regular session of the eleventh legislative term will come to an end on June 13, 2024, when the Council will consider the aforementioned draft law and the Council’s suggestions about the policy of the Islamic Affairs Department.
The session was chaired by Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the chairman of the council, and was held in Sharjah as part of the regular processes for the eleventh parliamentary term.
The head of Sharjah’s Islamic Affairs department, Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Sabousi, emphasized the department’s recent quick progress, citing greater community engagement, wider religious and educational outreach, and a rise in the number and caliber of mosques. He reaffirmed the department’s socially-developmental mission, presenting it as a prestigious establishment that has garnered great backing and made a substantial contribution to Sharjah’s development.
In their responses to all of the council members’ questions, the head and deputy of the Islamic Affairs Department emphasized how important they were as essential contributors to the department’s operations.
The Executive Council’s General Secretariat sent a letter requesting the referral of a draft law that would amend Law No. (2) of 2018 addressing the Sharjah Quran and Sunnah Establishment, which was stated by the Council’s Secretary-General at the end of the session. It was suggested by the chairman to send it for evaluation to the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee.
