Abu Dhabi: The 8th Korean Film Festival, organized by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the UAE and the Korean Cultural Centre, is returning to Abu Dhabi and Dubai this July.
This is the first Korean film festival in Dubai since 2017. Film enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of Korean films at VOX Cinemas, Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, from July 4th to 7th, and at VOX Cinemas, Dubai Festival City Mall, from July 12th to 14th.
There’s something for every taste at this year’s festival, where the concept of “freedom” will be explored across a range of genres and historical periods. Independent films, fantasy, comedies, historical dramas, mysteries, and musicals will all be on display.
While modern films like Dream Palace, Love Reset, and Sleep address present societal difficulties and the resilience needed to overcome them, historical films like Road to Boston, Noryang, Deadly Sea, and Hero will eloquently depict the Korean people’s battle for freedom.
A movie like “Alienoid Part 2: The Return to the Future” will provide adults fantasy thrills, while “Pororo Movie: Dragon Castle Adventure” would make kids laugh.
Because Korean films have become so well-known and liked in the UAE, this festival is a great way for local fans to get together and take in these summertime treasures.
Lee Yong-hee, Cultural Attaché of the Korean Embassy, expressed enthusiasm about the festival’s return, stating, “We are thrilled to bring the Korean Film Festival back to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This event not only showcases the rich and diverse storytelling of Korean cinema but also strengthens cultural ties between Korea and the UAE. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating freedom through film.”
