The event brought together 100 ER physicians, nurses, and support staff from SEHA facilities across the emirate. These professionals were recognized for their unwavering dedication to delivering urgent, life-saving care under challenging circumstances, ensuring the continued strength and efficiency of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system.
Dr. Salama Bin Rafeea, Acting Director of the Sector of Emergency Preparedness & Response at Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, praised the honorees, stating that, “We are immensely proud of the medical professionals working in emergency departments, the frontline heroes of our healthcare system who play an essential role in emergency response and saving lives. Through the Unified Medical Operations Command Centre (UMOC), we enable seamless coordination with emergency teams even before patients arrive at hospitals, enhancing readiness and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in health preparedness and response.”
Eng Mohammed Hassan Al Zaabi, Chief of Critical Infrastructure and Projects at PureHealth, expressed gratitude to the emergency teams, noting that, “Our ER professionals are the frontline guardians of health – responding with courage, speed, and compassion when every second counts. This tribute reflects our deep appreciation and commitment to recognizing and supporting those who deliver exceptional care at the heart of our communities.”

As part of the celebration, participants received personalized tokens of appreciation and recognition bonuses. The highlight of the event was the presentation of ER Heroes of the Year awards to 12 individuals for their exceptional impact in advancing emergency care and improving patient outcomes.
Among those honored was an ER professional who identified a previously undiagnosed brain lesion in a car accident victim, a diagnosis that proved crucial to the patient’s full recovery. Another honoree was recognized for providing continuous care and emotional support to a young trauma patient throughout a challenging recovery journey.
These stories embody the compassion, precision, and dedication that define emergency medicine. The ER Heroes initiative forms part of PureHealth’s broader mission to elevate patient experiences, invest in healthcare talent, and nurture a culture of excellence across its network in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
