Abu Dhabi: Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), under the supervision of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), has launched the Autonomous Vehicles Integrated Testing, Operations, and Management System (AViTOMS) during DRIFTx 2025, held as part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW).
The advanced, centralized digital platform, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, is designed to oversee all stages of testing and operations for autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve safety standards, and ensure full compliance with regulatory frameworks governing smart mobility in the emirate.
AViTOMS manages every phase of autonomous vehicle operations, from registration, application and permitting to the supervision of trials, technical data analysis, and eventual commercial deployment. The system ensures procedural accuracy and safety at each stage while supporting real-time monitoring and coordination with relevant government entities.

The platform offers an exhaustive suite of smart tools, including an online application portal, a digital workflow management system, real-time vehicle tracking maps, performance dashboards, and an emergency shutdown feature for immediate response to operational faults. It also enables secure, instant data exchange among stakeholders to support continuous oversight and enhance compliance.
Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre, stated that, “This platform marks a step change in the regulation and operation of autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi. It enhances operational efficiency and elevates safety standards through a unified digital system that enables intelligent oversight of every stage of testing and operations. The project aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision to build a safe, smart and sustainable transport ecosystem that supports digital transformation and keeps pace with global advances in autonomous systems.”
The launch of AViTOMS highlights the ITC’s leadership in advancing Abu Dhabi’s legislative and regulatory framework for smart mobility. It reinforces the emirate’s commitment to harnessing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to build a connected, sustainable, and future-ready transport ecosystem.
Through AViTOMS, Abu Dhabi continues to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation in autonomous mobility and smart transportation.
