Abu Dhabi: The fourth edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) has opened at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, positioning itself as the region’s leading platform for clean transportation and EV innovation.
Hosted by ADNOC Distribution and held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the three-day summit runs until April 23 and has attracted senior government officials, international delegates, and top industry leaders from around the world.
Organized by Nirvana MICE, the summit is supported by Abu Dhabi Mobility as the Mobility Partner and UAEV as the Innovation Partner, highlighting the UAE’s drive toward sustainable and smart transportation.
During the opening ceremony, Eng. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, described EVIS 2025 as the ‘largest and most significant EV event in the MENA region.’
Highlighting the nation’s efforts to advance e-mobility, Al Olama stated that, “The UAE has firmly placed sustainability at the heart of its national agenda. Guided by our Net Zero 2050 Strategy and Energy Strategy 2050, we are committed to transforming how we consume energy, especially in transport.”
To address range anxiety and support EV adoption, the UAE has launched UAEV, a joint venture between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Etihad Water and Electricity, aimed at creating a nationwide charging network. In collaboration with Bee’ah, the country is also setting up the region’s first electric and hybrid battery recycling facility, promoting circular economy principles.
According to Al Olama, the UAE ranked first in the Middle East in 2024 for EV and hybrid vehicle sales, with nearly 26 percent of total car sales coming from the segment. This transition is expected to cut over 400 kilotons of carbon emissions in the transport sector by 2050.
He stressed the importance of continued public-private partnerships, infrastructure investment, and innovative technologies to meet green mobility goals. A standout feature at this year’s event is Xpeng UAE’s futuristic air taxi offering attendees a rare look at vertical electric transport in action.

EVIS Abu Dhabi 2025 also features an EV Outdoor Test Drive Zone, an E-Circuit Zone for live performance demos, and the Charging Oasis, where OEMs present cutting-edge charging innovations. The Market Gateway provides a networking hub for industry professionals, while a high-level conference program brings together policymakers and experts to explore critical themes across mobility, energy, and sustainability.
Eng. Naser Ali Al Bahri, CEO of Nirvana MICE remarked that, “EVIS Abu Dhabi is where industry vision becomes reality. The summit continues to grow in global relevance and serves as a strategic platform for shaping the future of mobility through cross-sector collaboration.”
As the EV sector accelerates globally, EVIS Abu Dhabi 2025 reaffirms the UAE’s leadership in shaping the clean mobility landscape of the future.
