Dubai: DP World has partnered with Parkin to implement a fully automated smart parking system at the Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market in Dubai.
The new system will manage approximately 2,500 parking spaces for light vehicles and 500 for trucks, enhancing the market’s traffic flow and operational efficiency. The smart parking solution uses license plate recognition and real-time data, enabling barrier-free access, reducing congestion, and streamlining high-volume vehicle movement within the market.
This initiative aligns with Dubai’s Smart City vision and supports its plans to transform Al Aweer into the world’s largest integrated food trading and logistics hub.
Driving smart logistics for perishables
Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director of DP World GCC, said that efficient logistics extend beyond port operations to every point of the supply chain. Abdulla Bin Damithan stated that, “In the perishables trade, every second counts. By partnering with Parkin, we will make operations at one of the region’s busiest food hubs faster, smarter and more seamless.”

Enhancing traffic flow and user experience
Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, highlighted the impact of this collaboration, stating that, “This strategic partnership allows us to bring advanced, technology-driven parking solutions to one of Dubai’s most important commercial hubs. By introducing seamless barrierless parking at Al Aweer Market, we aim to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and ensure more efficient use of parking space.”
Part of a larger vision
This development follows the agreement signed last year between Dubai Municipality and DP World to create the world’s largest logistics hub for foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables. The expansion aims to double the size of the current market and connect it to international supply chains, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global trade gateway.
