Abu Dhabi: The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi has concluded the third edition of the Third Sector Forum, celebrating excellence in the emirate’s social sector. Held in collaboration with ADNOC at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, the forum highlighted innovative assistance to community development and honored winners of the Third Sector Awards across six categories.
The 3rd Sector Forum was attended by Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development; Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of the DCD; and other dignitaries. It served as a medium to empower third-sector entities through dialogue sessions featuring local and international experts. Discussions concentrated on fostering partnerships, adopting sustainable practices, and promoting volunteerism to amplify the sector’s impact.
A key announcement during the forum was the establishment of the Third Sector Council, predicted as a bridge between public benefit institutions and the government. The council aims to handle challenges, foster collaboration, and influence policymaking to support sector growth.

Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili stated that, “The forum recalls Abu Dhabi’s aspirations to strengthen the social sector through innovation and leadership, building a cohesive and connected society for a sustainable future.” The Third Sector Awards ceremony was a highlight, celebrating outstanding contributions:
- Non-Profit of the Year 2024: Emirates Cancer Society
- Most Impactful Non-Profit 2024: Operation Smile
- Social Enterprise of the Year 2024: Nadeera Company
- Most Impactful Social Enterprise 2024: E-Youth Company
- Volunteering Team of the Year 2024: Emirati Marshals Program Team
- CSR Initiative of the Year 2024: ADNOC’s “Energy for Education” program
Mohamed Helal Al Balooshi, Executive Director at the DCD, commended the sector’s growing role in managing social priorities and enhancing community well-being, strengthening the forum’s significance as a catalyst for progress.
