Abu Dhabi: Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) and Al-Hudhud Publishing and Distribution have recently joined to enhance accessibility for visually impaired individuals.
The collaboration aims to provide reading opportunities for children and adolescents with visual impairments by producing 35 of Al-Hudhud’s publications in Braille. Each publication will be printed in 43 copies, with 20 copies shared between ZHO and Al-Hudhud. The remaining three copies will be submitted to the relevant authorities to obtain the International Standard Book Number (ISBN).
The signing ceremony took place at ZHO’s headquarters and involved Mr. Naameh Abdul-Rahman Al-Mansouri, Member of the Federal National Council and Director of the Welfare Department for the Visually Impaired at ZHO, as well as Mr. Yusr Al-Abaiji, Operational Director of Al-Hudhud Publishing and Distribution. The event witnessed the presence of officials from both organizations.
Under the agreement, ZHO will print Braille copies of the approved books and stories provided by Al-Hudhud, in both Arabic and English.Mr. Al-Mansouri expressed appreciation for the exceptional literary content offered by Al-Hudhud, highlighting their commitment to advancing societal culture, nurturing talents, and contributing to children’s literature through creative and educational writing.
Mr. Al-Mansouri emphasized ZHO’s dedication to promoting the use of Braille across various aspects of life. This commitment stems from their determination to support the empowerment and integration of people with disabilities into society while providing the best possible care and rehabilitation for those with visual impairments. The collaboration between ZHO and Al-Hudhud serves as a significant step towards achieving these goals and enhancing inclusivity for individuals with visual impairments.
